HOUSTON, Sept. 22 -- Intergas Piú (IGP), a subsidiary of Mediterranean Oil & Gas PLC, has achieved successful production test results from its Santa Caterina 2 sidetrack well in Santa Caterina gas field in the Lucera Concession onshore southern Italy.

The well intersected the main gas producing sands 10 m updip to the discovery well.

During test, it flowed at a total rate of 4 MMscfd of gas from seven of nine sand intervals completed between 1,025 m and 1,535 m RT in a preceding workover.

The reservoir pressures have been found around 1,450 psi with some of the layers still maintaining the original reservoir pressure conditions.

Two intervals are ready to come on stream through the Reggente gas plant, which is already equipped for gas treatment and double stage compression, and to be distributed through the Italian gas pipeline network. The initial flow rate of the well will be about 1.4 MMscfd.

Production is due to start in November.

Gas Plus Italiana, permit operator, said it will use the new results to update the field's reserves estimate.
