E.ON Ruhrgas takes step to operate off Norway

E.ON Ruhrgas Norge AS, Stavanger, has entered an agreement for offshore services as part of its program to qualify as an operator off Norway.

HOUSTON, Sept. 14 -- E.ON Ruhrgas Norge AS, Stavanger, has entered an agreement for offshore services as part of its program to qualify as an operator off Norway.

The company, a unit of E.ON Ruhrgas AG, Essen, Germany, will use drilling management and subsurface services of AGR Drilling Production Technology AS, part of Ability Group ASA, Straume, Norway. The cooperation agreement covers well engineering and operations; subsurface and technical advice; and health, safety, and environment activities.

E.ON Ruhrgas Norge last year increased to 30% its interest in Njord oil and gas field, operated by Hydro in the Norwegian Sea, from which gas production is to start next year.

In the last 3 years the company has acquired interests in several licenses on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. It plans to apply for licenses in the next round.
