Contract let for pipelay work off India

British Gas Exploration & Production India Ltd. (BGEPIL) has let an $87 million contract to Global Industries Ltd. subsidiary Global Offshore International Ltd. for pipelay work in Mid Tapti gas field off India.

HOUSTON, Sept. 6 -- British Gas Exploration & Production India Ltd. (BGEPIL) has let an $87 million contract to Global Industries Ltd. subsidiary Global Offshore International Ltd. for pipelay work in Mid Tapti gas field off India.

The 11-month contract calls for the transportation, installation, and precommissioning of 80 km of 20-in. gas export pipeline, 22 km of 20-in. infield pipeline with a 4 ft piggyback instrument air line, associated pipeline end manifolds and risers, fabrication of two pipeline end manifolds, and pipe burial operations.

Global will execute the offshore installation in water 15-40 m deep, 160 km northwest of Mumbai. Lay barge mobilization is scheduled for December.

BGEPIL, along with Oil & National Gas Corp. Ltd. (India) and Reliance Industries Ltd., is a member of a joint venture involved in the New Revised Plan of Development Project in Mid Tapti field.
