HOUSTON, Aug. 17 -- BG Trinidad and Tobago is constructing a 65 MMcfd gas treatment plant to serve the 111 sq km Central Block along the Cross Island gas pipeline in south Trinidad.

Until plant start-up planned for mid-2007, the 2000 Carapal Ridge-1 discovery well is delivering 20 MMcfd of gas and 500 b/d of condensate through temporary facilities. It was the islands' largest onshore discovery in 20 years.

BG estimated the block's proved and probable reserves at 500 bcf of gas when a subsidiary acquired it from Aventura Energy Inc., Calgary, two years ago (OGJ Online, Mar. 23, 2004).

BG's plan calls for drilling two exploration wells on the block in 2006 and development drilling and possibly another exploration well in 2007.

The block also contains Corosan-1, which gauged 8.2 MMcfd of gas in late 2001, and Baraka-1, which flowed 22 MMcfd and 660 b/d of condensate in July 2003.
