HOUSTON, Aug. 1 -- Singapore's Pearl Energy Ltd. and its partners have been awarded an interest in Block 06/94 in the Nam Con Son basin, off southern Vietnam.

Operator Pearl and partners Lundin Petroleum AB of Sweden and Serica Energy PLC of London each will hold a 33.33% interest in the block. Completion of the transaction is subject to execution of a production-sharing contract with Petrovietnam.

Block 06/94 covers more than 4,100 sq km about 350 km offshore, just south of BP PLC's producing Lan Tay gas field.

The consortium plans to acquire 3D seismic and to drill additional exploratory wells. An existing high-quality grid of seismic data has already identified several large undrilled structures on the block.
