HOUSTON, Aug. 1 -- India's Oil & Natural Gas Corp. is progressing on field development plans to install a jacket in Bassein East oil field and to install four wellhead platforms in Mumbai High and Bassein fields.

J. Ray McDermott was hired as a subcontractor in ONGC's Vasai East Development expansion of Bassein East. Using a derrick barge, McDermott plans to install an eight-leg, 3,516 million ton jacket, with 16 skirt piles, four 72-in. main piles, pipeline spools, two bridges, six decks, and modules weighing 1,100 million tons each. Installation is slated for late 2007.

In a separate contract, McDermott will install four wellhead platforms, three connecting bridges, and two subsea pipelines in Mumbai High and Bassein fields. The wellhead platforms will be installed in an average 60 m of water.

Three platforms—NEA, NHA, and N2A—will be in Mumbai High, and the fourth platform, BF, will be in Bassein field. All jackets consist of 64-in. and 66-in. main piles. McDermott also will install three bridges to connect existing platforms to the new wellheads.

Structural installation will begin before yearend. Two pipelines, 6-in. and 16-in., totaling over 8 km, also will be installed. The entire project is due for completion by the end of first quarter 2007.
