LOS ANGELES, Aug 17 -- Indonesia invited companies to bid on 41 oil and gas blocks onshore and offshore Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Java. Bids will be accepted starting Aug. 28.

"We will award contracts for 20 of the blocks through tenders and the other 21 on the basis of direct offers," said Luluk Sumiarso, director-general of oil and gas at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry in Jakarta.

The deadline for direct offers is Oct. 11 and the tender offer deadline is Dec. 26.

Blocks up for tender are in the Natuna area, South Sumatra, East Kalimantan, West Sulawesi, Lampung, and West Java.

"In Natuna, the government is putting three new offshore blocks—Tuna, Cucut, and Dolphin—out to tender, as well as three available offshore blocks—Cakalang, Baronang, and Kerapu," he said.

Sumiarso said that the government also tendered a new onshore area, West Air Komering Block in South Sumatra, and the following blocks off East Kalimantan: Southeast Mahakam, Tigau, and Menatana.

Additional new blocks are at Madang, South Mandar, Sageri, and South Sageri off South Sulawesi, and Enrekang onshore South Sulawesi. The government was tendered three new blocks off West Sulawesi: Karama, Malunda, and Mandar.

Also put up for tender offer were Lampung I Block off Lampung, and offshore and onshore blocks in Ujung Kulon in West Java.
