HOUSTON, July 21 -- Delivery has begun of processing modules for a plant in Fujairah, UAE, that will upgrade crude oil with an ultrasound technology for sulfur removal and hydrogenation.

Seven 30,000-b/d units based on SulphCo Inc.'s Sonocracking technology are in various stages of transport from an assembly facility in Gelnhausen, Germany. SulphCo, of Sparks, Nev., said three of the units will have arrived in Dubai by the end of July.

Fujairah Oil Technology LLC, a 50-50 venture of Sulphco and Trans Gulf Petroleum Co., which is owned by the Fujairah government, will assemble the units in a fully automated Fujairah complex that will sweeten and lighten purchased crude for resale.

Vera Group of Saudi Arabia is SulphCo's primary contractor. Mustang International LLP is overseeing construction on 40,000 sq m of land provided by the Fujairah government next to oil storage facilities.

Vera Group hopes to complete most of the facility construction in August.

SulphCo expects expansion of the Fujairah complex to 510,000 b/d of upgrading capacity by first quarter 2007.
