HOUSTON, July 26 -- Total SA has discovered oil on Block NC 191 in the Murzuq basin in southwestern Libya, 800 km south of Tripoli. This is the first discovery on the block.
The D1 well, drilled to a TD of 1,735 m, flowed on test at 675 b/d of oil. Appraisal of the discovery and the potential of the remainder of the block is under way.
Total was awarded 100% interest in the block in March 2001.
