Serica to drill wildcat in UK North Sea

Serica Energy PLC, London, plans to begin drilling a wildcat in October on its Oak prospect on Block 54/1b in the UK North Sea's Southern Gas basin.

HOUSTON, July 20 -- Serica Energy PLC, London, plans to begin drilling a wildcat in October on its Oak prospect on Block 54/1b in the UK North Sea's Southern Gas basin.

It has secured a contract for the Ensco 92 jack up, which Peak Well Management Ltd., Aberdeen, will operate.

Drilling to the target depth of 7,865 ft is expected to take 30 days. Serica holds a 100% interest in Block 54/1b.

Serica said it will be drilling its Columbus prospect on Block 23/16f in the central UK North Sea at the same time.
