HOUSTON, July 21 -- Heritage Oil Corp., London, plans to drill the Kingfisher-1 well on Block 3A in Uganda over the next few months and has begun moving the rig to the site.

The well will be the first of a possible two-well initial drilling program on Block 3A, for which Heritage is the operator with a 50% interest; Tullow Oil PLC owns the remaining interest.

The Kingfisher-1 well will be drilled to 3,000-4,000 m and will target multiple potential objectives within a large structural high that is expressed at surface on the lakebed and has been defined by two 2D seismic surveys.

The Kingfisher prospect could contain 1.3 billion bbl of oil in place, Tullow said (OGJ Online, July 5, 2006).

The prospect extends out into Lake Albert but can be drilled vertically from the lakeshore. Exploration prospects for drilling in the Lake Albert area have improved following the completion earlier this month of the Waraga-1 well test in Block 2, which lies immediately north of the Heritage permit.

Block 2 operator, Hardman Resources Ltd., and Tullow Oil reported updated Waraga-1 test results that show the well achieved a combined maximum flow rate of 12,050 b/d from three zones. The oil quality of 8,400 b/d was 33.8° gravity, while the remaining 3,650 b/d was 18.6° gravity. The well has reportedly been suspended awaiting completion and potential future production.
