HOUSTON, July 11 -- Edison SPA, Milan, and Intergas Piu SRL (IGP), a subsidiary of Mediterranean Oil & Gas PLC, plan to drill an exploratory well targeting gas on the Torrente La Vella exploration permit in southern Italy.

The Edison-IGP joint venture will start drilling after reprocessing seismic data to confirm a previously identified prospect.

Edison is the operator of the new permit with a 60% interest, and IGP owns a 40% interest.

The permit covers 9.65 sq km in the Basilicata region, an area where IGP owns and operates the Monte Verdese, S. Teodoro, and Scanzano production concessions and the Masseria Gaudella exploration permit.
