HOUSTON, July 27 -- Vetco Aibel AS has let an engineering and procurement services contract to Foster Wheeler Energy Ltd. for modification work on ConocoPhillip's platforms in the Greater Ekofisk Area in the Norwegian North Sea. The terms of the contract were not disclosed.
The Greater Ekofisk modifications are to extend the production life of that area. ConocoPhillips said the work will require temporary shut-in of total production of 1.6 million boe from Ekofisk and connected fields (OGJ Online, Mar. 13, 2006).
Vetco Aibel has a frame agreement with ConocoPhillips for the engineering, onshore fabrication, and offshore completion services for the modification project.
Foster Wheeler's Glasgow operation in Scotland will carry out front-end engineering design, detailed engineering, management and administration, and supply chain management.
