HOUSTON, June 28 -- A discovery well in nonproducing Uganda has flowed light, waxy crude at a sustained rate of 4,200 b/d on a 1-in. choke, said operator Hardman Resources Ltd., Perth.

The Waraga-1 well had flowed 1,500 b/d of 33.8° gravity oil on a 36/64-in. choke on an earlier test (OGJ Online, June 23, 2006). The oil has a low gas-oil ratio, the company said.

The latest test is evidence of high permeability, and the basal sand zone tested at Waraga is also oil bearing at the company's two wells at Maputa, Hardman said.

Hardman plans to test two shallower oil-bearing zones at Waraga-1 before beginning tests at Maputa 19 km southwest.

Hardman and Tullow Oil PLC, London, hold 50% interests in Block 2 at Lake Albert.
