HOUSTON, June 20 -- Total plans to spend €550 million on three major gas projects in France during the next 5 years.

Total is participating in the construction of the Fos Cavaou LNG terminal with a capacity of 8.25 billion cu m/year.

To handle gas from the Fos terminal, the company plans to double capacity of the Artère de Guyenne pipeline from Lussagnet across the Dordogne River.

And pending the necessary approvals, Total intends to expand the capacity of the Lussagnet natural gas storage facility to 3.5 billion cu m from 2.4 billion cu m.

Total executives outlined the 5-year plans during the June 19 inauguration of the Euskadour pipeline interconnecting gas grids in the Basque regions of France and Spain.

The 28-km Euskadour pipeline initially will carry 500 million cu m/year. Construction was completed late last year as a joint project between Total Infrastructures Gaz France and Naturgas Energia.
