HOUSTON, June 13 -- CNPC International Tenere Ltd. said a rig and support equipment are to arrive in mid to late July in Cotonou, Benin, from China for the 400-km road trip to the first location to be drilled on the Tenere Concession in eastern Niger.

The first location, Saha-1, is to be drilled to 3,600 m in the southwest corner of the Tenere Trough on the footwall of a large rotated fault block, the main hydrocarbon trap in the Sudan and Chad rift basins. The well will test the Cretaceous to Tertiary Sokor, Madama, and Yogou formation sandstones.

Fachi West-1, the second location, will be drilled to 4,000 m close to the graben center north of Saha-1 and southwest of the 1970s-vintage Fachi-1 well, to test the same formations at Saha-1.

The third location is to be chosen after completion of a seismic survey in progress.
