Malaysian LNG to supply Chubu Electric

Malaysia LNG Sdn. Bhd. (MLNG) has signed an agreement to supply 540,000 tonnes/year (tpy) of LNG to Chubu Electric Power Co. Inc. for 20 years.

LOS ANGELES, May 2 – Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) subsidiary Malaysia LNG Sdn. Bhd. (MLNG) has signed an agreement to supply 540,000 tonnes/year (tpy) of LNG to Chubu Electric Power Co. Inc. for 20 years beginning in 2011.

The LNG will come from the Petronas LNG complex in Bintulu, Sarawak, and transported on tankers owned and operated by Petronas's shipping subsidiary MISC Bhd.

Petronas has a combined production capacity of about 23 million tpy of LNG, provided by the three-train, 8.1 million tpy MLNG plant; the two-train, 6.8 million tpy MLNG Tiga plant; and the three-train, 7.8 million tpy MLNG Dua plant, currently being debottlenecked to add 1.3 million tpy of capacity by the end of 2009.
