LOS ANGELES, May 31 -- Indian Oil Corp. Ltd. has let a $565 million contract to Japan's Toyo Engineering Corp. and India's Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (L&T) for construction of an 800,000-tonne/year naphtha cracker at Panipat, Haryana, in northern India.
The cracker will use ABB Lummus Global technology. Toyo and
L&T will provide project management and engineering, procurement, and construction the cracker and associated units.
Toyo will do the cracker plant work and provide overall project management, while L&T will perform work for the cracker heaters and associated units, including C4 hydrogenation, pyrolysis gasoline hydrogenation, and benzene extraction units.
The cracker, part of a planned petrochemical complex, will process naphtha from IOCL's 120,000-b/d refinery at Panipat, 156,000-b/d refinery at Mathura, and 185,000-b/d refinery at Gujarat.
