LOS ANGELES, May 12 -- Hardman Resources Ltd. has spudded its Mputa-2 appraisal well in Uganda, about 3 km northwest of its Mputa-1 discovery well and 19 km southwest of the Waraga-1 discovery (OGJ Online, Mar. 14, 2006).

Drilling recently had reached 130 m toward TD of 1,500 m.

Hardman said it has started planning for drilling large offshore prospects beneath Lake Albert and will also likely acquire additional 2D and 3D seismic data to extend coverage over the onshore oil trend.

Hardman said it expects to spend at least $20 million in Uganda in 2006-07.

Hardman Petroleum Africa Pty. Ltd., operator, and Tullow Oil PLC each holds a 50% interest.
