Aramco lets contract for Yanbu ethane work

Saudi Aramco hired Engineering for Petroleum & Process Industries of Egypt to provide turnkey services to add ethane capacity at its Yanbu gas processing plant.

HOUSTON, May 4 -- Saudi Aramco hired Engineering for Petroleum & Process Industries of Egypt to provide turnkey services to add ethane capacity at its Yanbu gas processing plant. The contract covers the engineering, procurement, and construction of a new de-ethanizer train and associated systems.

The project will increase Yanbu ethane capacity to 585,000 b/d from 390,000 b/d. A new 530,000 lb/hr high-pressure steam boiler, associated equipment, and an operations building also will be provided under separate contract.

The project is scheduled to be completed by December 2008. The value of the contract was not disclosed.
