Aramco makes gas discovery in Persian Gulf

Saudi Arabia announced a natural gas discovery in the Persian Gulf that could produce as much as 80 MMcfd of gas.

LOS ANGELES, Apr. 18 -- Saudi Arabia announced a natural gas discovery in the Persian Gulf that could produce as much as 80 MMcfd of gas.

Saudi Oil Minister Ali Naimi said Saudi Aramco found gas with the Karan-6 well, about 160 km north of Dhahran.

Ali Naimi said the well, which was tested Apr. 15, flowed an average of 40 MMcfd of gas.
