Imperial acquires block in Western Siberia

A unit of Imperial Energy Corp. PLC has agreed in a government auction to pay $5.25 million to acquire 3,844-sq km Block 80 in the Tomsk region of Western Siberia.

HOUSTON, Mar. 20 -- A unit of Imperial Energy Corp. PLC has agreed in a government auction to pay $5.25 million to acquire 3,844-sq km Block 80 in the Tomsk region of Western Siberia.

Imperial said the block contains oil discoveries made during the Soviet era. The 25-year license covers exploration and production and involves a work commitment.
