HOUSTON, Mar. 27 -- Hardman Resources Ltd., Perth, has signed a farmin agreement with Aminex PLC subsidiary Ndovu Resources Ltd. for a 50% interest in Aminex's Ruvuma basin production-sharing agreement in Tanzania. Hardman will fund a $3 million onshore 2D seismic survey.

The PSA, 500 km south of Dar es Salaam along the Mozambique border, includes the Mtwara and Lindi licenses, covering a total area of 12,360 sq km in the onshore and near shore Tanzanian section of the Ruvuma basin (see map, OGJ, Aug. 14, 2000, p. 40). The adjoining Mnazi Bay gas field currently is under development.

The 500 line-km seismic survey, scheduled for this year, will establish drilling targets for the joint venture's first wildcat. Oil seeps have been recorded in the area.

The JV's initial targets will be Tertiary and Cretaceous reservoirs, expected at 1,000-3,000 m.

Aminex, London, shot a 334-km 2D marine seismic survey in the area in late 2005 when it secured the PSA. Prior to that, Tanzanian Petroleum Development Corp. and other previous operators had recorded almost 1,400 km of seismic data, which identified several leads in the PSA area (OGJ, Mar. 12, 1990, p. 32).
