WASHINGTON, DC, Mar. 13 -- The two Department of the Interior agencies involved in oil and gas are seeking public comments on two related but separate advanced rulemaking notices designed to promote new forms of production.

The US Bureau of Land Management and the US Minerals Management Service said the proposals implement provisions of the Energy Policy Act of 2005.

The first would provide economic incentives to companies that produce natural gas from gas hydrates on the Outer Continental Shelf and federal lands in Alaska. The second would provide similar incentives to companies injecting carbon dioxide and other gases into oil and gas fields under federal management.

Comments on each proposal should be submitted by mail to the Director (630), BLM, Administrative Record, Room 401 LS, Eastern States Office, 7450 Boston Blvd., Springfield, Va., 22153 or by e-mail to [email protected]. In the case of gas hydrates, comments should refer to 1004-AD81. In the case of CO2 injection, they should refer to 1004-AD82.
