CNOOC makes Bozhong discovery in Bohai Bay

A CNOOC Ltd. wildcat, Bozhong (BZ) 29-4-2, spudded in January in Bohai Bay off China, has cut 34.5 m of gas pay and 13 m of oil pay, the company reported.

HOUSTON, Mar. 17 -- A CNOOC Ltd. wildcat, Bozhong (BZ) 29-4-2, spudded in January in Bohai Bay off China, has cut 34.5 m of gas pay and 13 m of oil pay, the company reported.

BZ29-4-2 was drilled in 21.4 m of water on Structure BZ29-4 in Yellow River Mouth Sag in the central northern part of the bay. The well, drilled to 3,070 m TD, tested 760 b/d of oil through a 7.94-mm choke.

BZ29-4 is CNOOC Ltd.'s first discovery this year.
