BP lets construction contract for Tangguh plant

BP PLC has let a project and construction management support services contract to a subsidiary of John Wood Group PLC for the Tangguh gas processing facilities under development in Berau Bay, Papua, Indonesia.

HOUSTON, Mar. 10 -- BP PLC has let a project and construction management support services contract to a subsidiary of John Wood Group PLC for the Tangguh gas processing facilities under development in Berau Bay, Papua, Indonesia.

The 2-year, multimillion-dollar contract covers engineering, construction management and program management services, and pipeline supervision. The contract has a 1-year extension option.

PT Wood Group Indonesia and sister company JP Kenny will support BP in supervising the engineering procurement and construction contractor, PT Saipem Indonesia, which received the upstream facilities and pipeline contract for the Tangguh LNG project.

The completed plant will be capable of producing 7 million tonnes/year of LNG from two initial processing trains. BP Indonesia operates the world-class Tangguh gas field, which holds proved reserves of 14.4 tcf of gas.
