KARACHI, Feb. 7 -- Pakistan's Associated Group has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Excelerate Energy LLC, The Woodlands, Tex., to jointly develop a $50 million LNG import option for Pakistan based on Excelerate's "energy bridge" technology for regasifying LNG aboard LNG carriers. The gas would be transmitted from the carrier to onshore facilities through submarine pipelines.

The technology would enable Pakistan to receive LNG within 6 months following receipt of all government approvals, the companies said. They said they are not seeking government throughput or purchase guarantees.
