HOUSTON, Jan. 20 -- Statoil ASA reported that production resumed Jan. 20 on the Aasgard B platform in the Norwegian Sea.

Aasgard B production of 45,000 b/d of condensate and 27.5 million cu m/day of gas was shut in after sparks and smoke were detected Jan. 15 in an exhaust system in the turbine of one of the export ducts (OGJ Online, Jan. 16, 2005). Condensate and gas exports from Statoil's Kristin and Mikkel fields were subsequently halted, as was all export of gas via the Aasgard Transport line from Heidrun field.

Statoil said while Kristin field is preparing to start up again soon, Mikkel and Heidrun fields are back on line.
