HOUSTON, Jan. 4 -- Falkland Oil & Gas Ltd. (FOGL) has appointed 23-year oil and gas veteran Tim Bushell as chief executive, effective Jan. 16.

Bushell joins FOGL from Paladin Resources PLC, where he served as managing director, Norway. He previously worked for Lasmo PLC as manager, North Sea assets and general manager of its South Atlantic business unit, which included the drilling campaign in the North Falklands basin in 1998.

The appointment follows founding chairman John Armstrong's retirement. He will remain a nonexecutive director to ensure continuity of contact with all stakeholders, particularly the Falkland Islands' government, FOGL said.

Armstrong is succeeded by Richard Liddell, who was named nonexecutive chairman.
