HOUSTON, Dec. 1 -- Questar Market Resources has received US Bureau of Land Management approval to increase gas production from Pinedale Anticline field in western Wyoming.

Subsidiaries Questar Exploration & Production and Wexpro will be allowed to increase their winter drilling programs in the area and to conduct limited completion operations in the winter of 2005-06.

The previous approvals allowed drilling with six rigs from three pads beginning in the 2005-06 winter and continuing through the 2013-14 winter. In exchange for additional environmental mitigation measures, the company will add a third rig to one of the winter pads for this winter only. It will be allowed to complete and bring on stream three wells that otherwise could not have been completed until May 2006.

The change will add 8 bcf of gross supply during 2006.

Questar said it proposed the change in response to a Department of Interior request for ways to increase Rocky Mountain gas production to offset hurricane-related losses in the Gulf of Mexico.
