LOS ANGELES, Dec. 6 -- Malaysia LNG Dua Sdn. Bhd. (MLNG Dua) has awarded a contract to Foster Wheeler E&C Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. and partner OGP Technical Services Sdn. Bhd. for the front-end engineering design and engineering, procurement, and construction phases of a debottleneck project at the MLNG Dua LNG facility at Bintulu, East Malaysia.

Foster Wheeler will lead the project, which will increase LNG production capacity to 9.1 million tonnes/year from 7.8 million tonnes/year by October 2009.

The MLNG Dua plant, completed in 1995, is part of a Petronas LNG complex that includes two other plants, MLNG Satu (completed in 1983) and MLNG Tiga (2003).

The MLNG Satu and MLNG Dua facilities, each with three trains, can deliver 7.6 million tonnes/year and 7.8 million tonnes/year of LNG, respectively.

Addition in 2003 of two trains raised capacity of the MLNG Tiga plant to about 23 million tonnes/year.
