HOUSTON, Nov. 1 -- IPR International Ltd., Irving, Tex., applied for a development lease for a Cretaceous Alamein dolomite oil discovery on the North Ras Qattara II concession in Egypt's western desert 125 miles west of Cairo.
The 3X (Ie 39-1) exploratory well tested as much as 542 b/d of 41° gravity oil on a 32/64-in. choke from perforations at 9,439-76 ft measured depth. It encountered 100 ft of Alamein oil pay. TD is 10,262 ft. IPR is operator with 100% working interest.
It is the first commercial discovery in this part of the Alamein basin south of the Alamein and Qattara Ridge. Early production is to be trucked 6 km to facilities at Alamein field, the 1966 discovery field for the western desert and now operated by IPR.
North Ras Qattara II will be IPR's eight licensed development lease in Egypt.
