HOUSTON, Nov. 23 -- Sonoran Energy Inc. and the Natural Resources Authority of Jordan have signed their previously reported production sharing agreement for the 11,250-sq-km Azraq Block east of Amman (OGJ, Oct. 3, 2005, Newsletter).

Sonoran plans to shoot a 3D seismic survey and drill two exploratory wells.

The block contains Hamzah oil field, which produces 30-40 b/d of oil from a fractured carbonate reservoir. The field has produced nearly 1 million bbl of sweet oil since its discovery in 1984. Production, at one time as high as 400 b/d, is trucked to a refinery in Amman.
