HOUSTON, Nov. 1 -- A unit of Addax Petroleum NV, Geneva, replaced Noble Energy Inc., Houston, in the Block 4 consortium in the Sao Tome & Principe Joint Development Zone in the Gulf of Guinea.

The joint development authority awarded ERHC Energy Inc., Houston, and Noble Energy a 35% interest in and operatorship of deepwater Block 4 last May, but Noble Energy withdrew in late October.

The JDA approval requires that Addax be designated as operator and that the consortium accept all commercial and technical terms of the original award.
