WASHINGTON, DC, Nov. 18 -- Chris Conway, president of the commercial gas and power division at ConocoPhillips, has been elected chairman of the Natural Gas Supply Association.

Conway succeeds Joseph A. Blount, who was president of Unocal Corp.'s midstream and trade division prior to Chevron Corp.'s acquisition of the company.

Conway began his oil and gas career at Conoco Inc. 25 years ago as an engineer. He transferred to London in 1991 as strategy and business development manager for refining and marketing. Four years later, he returned to Houston and, in 1998, became Conoco's North American supply and trading manager.

As Conoco's merger with Phillips Petroleum Co. unfolded late in 2001, Conway was appointed commercial integration lead and became general crude oil manager for the Americas when the companies combined in September 2002. He moved into his current position at ConocoPhillips 1 year later.

NGSA's board also elected Cameron Byers, chief operating officer for North America gas and power at BP PLC, as vice-chairman, and Pat Kuntz, vice-president of natural gas and crude oil sales at Marathon Oil Corp., as secretary and treasurer.
