HOUSTON, Nov. 21 -- CNOOC Ltd. has started production of more than 2,200 b/d of oil from 4 wells at Luda (LD) 5-2, a new field in the Liaodong Bay in northern Bohai Bay (OGJ Online, Oct. 13, 2005).

At peak, LD 5-2 will reach gross production of 9,600 b/d of oil with 22 wells on line. The field lies in 30 m of water and nearby the producing Suizhong 36-1 oil field.

To date, there are three LD fields—LD 4-2, LD 10-1, and LD 5-2—all of which have come on stream successfully within 3 years. The fields share the jointly developed Suizhong 36-1 production facilities.

CNOOC operates the field with 100%.
