HOUSTON, Oct. 14 -- Statoil ASA suspended production of 45 million cu m/day of gas and 95,000 b/d of condensate from Sleipner East and West fields in the Norwegian North Sea.
Statoil said workers detected a gas leak Oct. 12 on the Sleipner A platform. Statoil will investigate the cause of the leak.
Sleipner West field, which produces 24 million cu m/d of gas and 55,000 b/d of condensate, resumed production on Oct. 13.
The Sleipner East output, averaging 21 million cu m/d of gas and 40,000 b/d of condensate, remains shut in "until the leak sites are repaired," Statoil said.
Gas from Sleipner field flows to Emden, Germany, and Zeebrugge, Belgium. The field's condensate flows to the Kårstø receiving terminal north of Stavanger.
