Total acquires African fuel and lube assets

Total SA has concluded agreements to acquire the fuels and lubricants assets of ExxonMobil Corp. subsidiaries in 14 African countries (OGJ Online, Sept. 12, 2005).

HOUSTON, Sept. 20 -- Total SA has concluded agreements to acquire the fuels and lubricants assets of ExxonMobil Corp. subsidiaries in 14 African countries (OGJ Online, Sept. 12, 2005).

The acquisition includes transfer of 500 service stations, 29 terminals and depots, and ExxonMobil's marketing motor fuels, lubricants, aviation fuels, and marine petroleum products.

The companies will continue to operate as competitors until they receive approvals from authorities of each nation. The assets are in Chad, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Togo, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
