CNOOC lets contract for Guandong refinery

China National Offshore Oil Corp. awarded a $46 million (Aus.) contract to WorleyParsons Ltd. to provide integrated management services for a new refinery in China.

MELBOURNE, Sept. 8 -- China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) has awarded a $46 million (Aus.) contract to WorleyParsons Ltd., Sydney, to provide integrated management services for a new refinery in China.

The $2.64 billion facility will be built in Guandong province adjacent the CNOOC-Shell Nanhai petrochemical complex in the Daya Bay economic development zone in Huizhou.

The refinery has a planned throughput of 250,000 b/d of crude oil from CNOOC's Penglai field in Bohai Bay.

WorleyParsons will manage all phases of the project from design through commissioning, including oversight of all design and construction contractors.
