RasGas III orders 12 LNG carriers

Ras Laffan Liquefied Natural Gas Co. Ltd. III ordered 12 LNG carriers worth $2.9 billion total, three South Korean shipbuilders reported.

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 10 -- Ras Laffan Liquefied Natural Gas Co. Ltd. III (RasGas III) ordered 12 LNG carriers worth $2.9 billion total, three South Korean shipbuilders reported.

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. said it will build five vessels for RasGas, which also hired Samsung Heavy Industries to build four vessels and Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. to build three vessels. The size of the vessels was not disclosed.
