LOS ANGELES, Aug. 26 -- Japanese refiners, reporting no damage in the wake of Typhoon Mawar, mostly resumed normal shipping operations Aug. 26 in the country's central and eastern region.

Berthing remained suspended the morning of Aug. 26 at Nippon Oil Corp.'s 340,000 b/d Negishi refinery in eastern Japan, a company spokesman said. But the firm resumed berthing operations at its 145,000 b/d Sendai refinery in the country's northeast.

Cosmo Oil Co. Ltd. resumed normal berthing operations at its 240,000 b/d Chiba refinery in eastern Japan, while Idemitsu Kosan Co. Ltd. followed suit at its 160,000 b/d Aichi refinery in central Japan and its 220,000 b/d Chiba refinery.

Early Aug. 25, Cosmo Oil stopped shipping oil products from its Chiba facility and the 155,000 b/d Yokkaichi refinery in Mie Prefecture in central Japan.

The typhoon, the 11th this season, did not affect Cosmo Oil's processing operations at either of its two refineries.
