MELBOURNE, July 26 -- Origin Energy Ltd., Sydney, has confirmed a gas find in two zones in its Tarantula-1 wildcat on the onshore Perth basin permit L11 in Western Australia.
Logging has indicated gas saturations over a gross interval of 32 m between 3,228 m and 3,279 m MD in the sidetrack Tarantula-1ST-1. In this pay zone 10 m has been interpreted as "good to excellent" quality sands.
The lower zone is equivalent to the gas-producing horizon at Beharra Springs gas field to the south.
Origin plans to tie the Tarantula well into Beharra Springs facilities.
Origin has a 67% interest, while Arc Energy Ltd., Perth, holds the remaining 33%.
