Total lets subsea systems contract for Akpo

Total SA has let a $340 million contract to the Cameron division of Cooper Cameron Corp. for subsea production systems for Akpo, Total's 44-well development project off Nigeria.

HOUSTON, May 23 -- Total SA has let a $340 million contract to the Cameron division of Cooper Cameron Corp. for subsea production systems for Akpo, Total's 44-well development project off Nigeria (OGJ, May 9, 2005, Newsletter).

Cameron will provide subsea systems engineering and project management, subsea christmas trees, production and intervention control systems, manifolds, flowline connection systems, installation support, and associated spares for Total Upstream Nigeria Ltd.

Equipment delivery and installation is to begin in the third quarter of 2006 and continue through 2008.

Cameron also will provide supplemental installation and support services for the Akpo project, bringing the total value of the contract to $415 million.
