HOUSTON, May 9 Talisman Energy Inc., Calgary, said its production in the US Appalachian basin averaged 120 MMcfd in the fourth quarter of 2004, up 18% on the quarter and 132% of fourth quarter 2003 output.

The Solderblom HZ No. 1 well, operated by Talisman's US affiliate Fortuna Energy Inc. with 100% working interest, came on line in December 2004. Its flow reached a record 32 MMcfd in March 2005.

Two wells were brought on stream in the first quarter. Sekella 1, Town of Van Etten, Chemung County, New York, and Gillis 1, Town of Caton, Steuben County, New York, had combined sales of 6.5 MMcfd from Ordovician Trenton-Black River.

Two wells completed from Trenton-Black River are waiting to be tied in. They are the Drumm 1, Town Bradford, and the Behm 1, Town of Hornby, both in Steuben County.

Fortuna drilled six gas wells in the first quarter, of which three are on acreage Talisman acquired from Belden & Blake Corp. in mid-2004.

Fortuna is adding 8 MMcfd of capacity to the company-operated 30 MMcfd Catlin Hill compressor station, Town of Catlin, Chemung County.
