MELBOURNE, May 20 -- Enertrade, a Queensland, Aus., utility, plans a pipeline to transport coalbed methane from Moranbah field west of Mackay to the industrial center of Gladstone.

The 420 km line could have a capacity of more than 20 petajoules/year and be on stream by 2007. Enertrade completed a 70 km pipeline from the Bowen basin coalbed methane fields to Townsville in 2004.

The new plan highlights the growing demand for gas along Queensland's east coast. Coalbed methane supplies about 30% of the state's gas demand.
