Sibneft wins license in Western Siberia

Russia's Sibneft has won development rights for the Salymskiy-5 Block in the Khanty-Mansiisk Autonomous District of Western Siberia.

HOUSTON, Apr. 13 -- Russia's Sibneft has won development rights for the Salymskiy-5 Block in the Khanty-Mansiisk Autonomous District of Western Siberia.

The company will pay $730,000 for the block, which has estimated recoverable oil of 19.6 million tonnes.

Sibneft recently won the rights to develop the Salymskiy-2 and Salymskiy-3 Blocks and plans to continue to expand its operations in the area (OGJ Online, Mar. 31, 2005).
