Shell appoints Sweeney to Shell Renewables CEO post

Graeme Sweeney has been appointed CEO of Shell Renewables and president of Shell Hydrogen. Graeme succeeds Karen de Segundo, who will retire on Mar. 31.

HOUSTON, Mar. 1 -- Graeme Sweeney has been appointed CEO of Shell Renewables and president of Shell Hydrogen. Graeme succeeds Karen de Segundo, who will retire on Mar. 31.

Sweeney has been with Shell for 28 years. Prior to this appointment, he served as vice-president, manufacturing, supply, and distribution, for Shell's downstream business in Europe.

Previously, he has held other positions in the downstream including president, Shell Global Solutions; vice-president, oil markets technology, for Global Solutions; vice-president, fuels, for Shell International; and manager, downstream business, in Turkey and Egypt.

De Segundo has been in her current position for the past 5 years. During 34 years of service with Shell, her previous roles include CEO, gas and power, and vice-president, oil products, with Shell Brazil.
