HOUSTON, Mar. 17 -- ChevronTexaco's Petronius platform is back on line after 42,000 b/d of crude oil and 65 MMcfd of gas production was shut in due to severe damage from Hurricane Ivan in September.

The platform, 130 miles southeast of New Orleans, is producing about 75% of its prehurricane output.

ChevronTexaco had safely evacuated all personnel prior to the storm's approach. The storm's eye passed close to Petronius, leaving damage to the rig crew quarters, production equipment, and deck structures.

ChevronTexaco is operator of Petronius, holding a 50% interest. Marathon Oil Corp. holds the other 50%.
