HOUSTON, Feb. 9 -- Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Ltd. (Gasco) has awarded Foster Wheeler Ltd. a project management consultancy (PMC) contract for development of the world-scale Onshore Gas Development Project III (OGD-III) at Habshan field in Abu Dhabi. The project will increase the production of condensate and natural gas liquids (NGL).

The project is one of three Gasco projects in a suite of five integrated projects undertaken on behalf of Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. in conjunction with Abu Dhabi Co. for Onshore Oil Operations, for gas gathering and reinjection, and Abu Dhabi Refining Co. (Takreer) for condensate storage and shipping (OGJ Online, June 19, 2002). The other two projects are the new gas plant at Asab (AGD-II) and a third NGL fractionation train at the Takreer NGL processing facility in Ruwais to upgrade treatment facilities and export additional condensate volumes.

The new facilities will recover condensate and NGL in well fluids from the Thamama F gas reservoir. Included is a new pipeline for transporting NGL to Gasco's new facilities at Ruwais for further separation into ethane, propane, butane, and C5+ product streams. Lean gas will be injected back into the reservoir at Habshan field. Stabilized condensate will be pumped to Ruwais for storage and shipping. Mechanical completion is expected in 2007.

Foster Wheeler, which also served as PMC for the front-end engineering and design and for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) bid-evaluation stages, will oversee the EPC contractor whose activities will include commissioning and final handover of the new OGD-III facilities at Habshan.
