Petrobras, Sevan sign production MOU for Piranema field off Brazil

Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Sevan Marine do Brasil Ltda., a unit of Norway's Sevan Marine, for the use of Sevan's SSP300 floating production, storage, and offloading vessel in Piranema field off Brazil under a long-term contract.

HOUSTON, Dec. 1 -- Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Sevan Marine do Brasil Ltda., a unit of Norway's Sevan Marine, for the use of Sevan's SSP300 floating production, storage, and offloading vessel in Piranema field off Brazil under a long-term contract.

Piranema field lies off Sergipe state, 37 km from Aracaju. The FPSO will be available and ready for operation in mid-2006.

The field, in 1,000-1,600 m of water, will produce 40º gravity oil. The FPSO has production capacity of 15,000 b/d.
